The Basics

The tour is organized by Culture Path who has extensive experience with touring musical groups and with Spain.
The tour will take place from June 28 to July 9th 2020.
Itinerary, registration, payments and more information available at: https://culturepath.wixsite.com/institut-suzuki-tour

All the other information you need to plan the trip will be at our trip website:

Registration
It is very important to register for the tour on Culture’s path website, so that Culture Path can book enough rooms.

Flights
Culture Path has a group rate for flight on Air Transat as follows:
June 28: Montreal - Madrid
July 9: Barcelona - Montreal
Cost: $1,065

Booking can be done for one-way outbound or return.
To book the flight through Culture Path, a deposit of $100 (non-refundable) is required [date to come]
The balance will be due around mid-March 2020 (90 days before the trip).

All musicians not accompanied by a parent must book this flight and travel with the group.

Insurance
Medical insurance is required for the trip; please check if you have your own.
Trip cancellation insurance can be purchased.
Culture path will make both medical and trip cancellation insurance available for those who want/need it.

Hotels
The tour includes stay in 4* hotels (with good air conditioning!)
Most hotels DO NOT have triple or quadruple rooms.
We will soon ask for sleeping arrangements preferences. Start checking with the musicians if they want to share rooms with other musicians or with their parents if they are part of the trip.

Concerts
Concerts will happen in different venues (churches, monasteries, concert hall, castles, etc.)
Some concerts may be part of festivals.
No tickets will be needed to attend the concerts. Concerts are free.

Chaperons
Decisions about the chaperons will be made in early 2020.

Fundraising
We will put in place different fundraising activities to raise money for room rentals for rehearsals in Montreal in June, lunches during the trip (currently not covered) and bursaries for those in need.

Some of the fundraising activities are:
  • Grocery bagging (first one is on October 19 and 20!)
  • Raffles at concerts (in December and end of the year)
  • GoFundMe (a crowdsourcing platform to collect donations)
  • FundScrip (Purchase of gift cards that give a certain percentage of the purchase back)
  • Recettes en pots (sale of recipe ingredients in a Mason jar). This can make for great Holidays gifts!
Instruments
Cellos: rental possible of student-level quality cellos.
Violins: there will be extra violin available in case of a problem with the musicians’ own instrument.

Non-tour participants
If you plan on joining the trip without purchasing the tour from Culture Path, please note that you must organize airfare, lodging, restaurants, and all transportation on your own.
